Prior acupuncture treatment within years of enrollment
Who are using acupuncture
Currently receiving acupuncture for any condition or if they have ever used acupuncture before
Upper extremity deformity contralateral to the site of disease that could interfere with accurate point location or alter the energy pathway as defined by traditional acupuncture theory
Acupuncture treatment in the preceding weeks prior to day
Unwilling to receive acupuncture or unable to travel for treatments
Prior use of acupuncture within months prior to the study entry
INTERVENTION PHASE: Currently receiving acupuncture treatment for CIPN
Upper or lower extremity deformities (ie, missing limbs or scars that prevent needle insertion at the acupuncture points) that could interfere with accurate acupoint location or alter the energy pathway as defined by traditional acupuncture theory
Local skin infections at or near the acupuncture sites or are under treatment for active systemic infection
History of cerebrovascular accident or spinal cord injury since the mechanism of acupuncture may be associated with central nervous system activity
Patients who are currently receiving acupuncture for any condition or if they have ever had acupuncture before
Prior use of acupuncture for CIPN within months prior to study entry
Patients must have had two or fewer acupuncture treatments within the past months for any reason except for joint symptoms; patients must not have had prior acupuncture treatment for joint symptoms at any time
Upper or lower extremity deformities that could interfere with accurate acupoint location or alter the energy pathway as defined by traditional acupuncture theory
Local skin infections at or near the acupuncture sites or active systemic infection
History of cerebrovascular accident or spinal cord injury since the mechanism of acupuncture may be associated with central nervous system activity
Patients who are currently receiving acupuncture for any condition or if they have ever had acupuncture before
Ability to complete the or weeks of acupuncture and follow-up assessments
Local infection at or near the acupuncture site; (although acupuncture is a minimally invasive procedure, patients will be excluded if there is an indication of infection)
Physical deformities that could interfere with accurate acupuncture point location
Previous acupuncture treatment for any indication within days of enrollment
Previous acupuncture treatment for lymphedema
Willingness to comply with all study interventions of acupuncture and follow-up assessments
Local infection at or near the acupuncture site (although acupuncture is a minimally invasive procedure, patients will be excluded if there is an indication of infection)
Physical deformities that could interfere with accurate acupuncture point location
Currently pregnant (certain acupuncture applications have been reported to stimulate uterine contractions)
Previous acupuncture treatment for any indication within days of enrollment
Have never had acupuncture for xerostomia
Active systemic infection or skin infection at or near the acupuncture sites
Previous treatment with acupuncture in the last months
Dermatological disease within the acupuncture area
