A 75-year-old man with a history of hyperuricaemia treated with Allopurinol was admitted for transurethral resection of the prostate.
Immediate postoperative period was uneventful with treatment with Pantoprazole, Ciprofloxacin, Paracetamol, Enantyum and Allopurinol. On the fourth postoperative day he presented dizziness, tremor with a myoclonic component in the limbs and trunk and inability to walk, with no laboratory alterations. In this situation, Rivotril was prescribed and treatment with Ciprofloxacin was discontinued, the myoclonic symptoms disappeared and the patient's condition improved, and he was discharged from hospital.
