Gastrointestinal disorders that may interfere with absorption of oral agents, such as malabsorption syndromes; additionally, patients requiring drainage gastrostomy (e.g. percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy [PEG] tube) and/or parenteral hydration and/or nutrition support are not eligible

Patients with clinical symptoms or signs of gastrointestinal obstruction, require parenteral hydration or nutrition, require a drainage gastrostomy tube, and/or have any other impairment that limits their ability to take oral medication

Patients who are not fed orally (gastrostomy [G]-tube dependent, total parenteral nutrition [TPN]-dependent)
Patients with clinical symptoms or signs of gastrointestinal obstruction and/ or those who require parenteral hydration and/or nutrition; patients with history or current diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease are not eligible
Use of growth hormone, megestrol, Marinol, or any other anabolic agents, appetite stimulants (including corticosteroids other than dexamethasone at the time of IV chemotherapy administrations), tube feeding, or parenteral nutrition during the 1 month prior to entering the study
